You are happily invited to the Birth Cafe and Death Cafe on Sunday April 9th 15 – 17 h in Svaha Yoga Downtown Studio at Begijnensteeg 1 in Amsterdam.
There is no life without death. Death does not happen without life. Our view on life is importantly defined by our relation to death. In this way death and life are inseparably connected with each other. Sometimes in time and space life and death are very close to each other. What is the connection between our first and last breath, and what can we share about this from our own experience?
To answer this question we organize a Birth Café and a Death Cafe in the cosy attic of the Downtown Studio. The gathering starts with a short introduction while enjoying your cup of tea. After that you are invited to take part in a group. One group is about What is your experience with death? And the other What is your experience with birth?
After the introduction we will part for a group conversation in subgroups of max six persons. Each one is invited to share in ten minutes their thoughts on the main question.
After a short break the afternoon will be closed with a plenary wrap-up for each group.
What are the Birth Cafe and Death Cafe about?
These cafes are an informal gathering, set up as a ‘kitchen table meeting’ in (semi)public spaces likes cafes, peoples homes or community centres, in which people who are often strangers to each other, have the opportunity to meet and share about birth and death.
The aim of Birth Cafe and the Death Cafe is to raise awareness on the meaning of birth and death by sharing stories and by helping each other to get the most out of our lives.
